Different Type of School: Fetch

Jon emerged from History class with his brain addled. _What was the deal with these classes today?_ Shaking his head, he headed to the locker room to get ready for gym class. Resolving to just go with it and get through the day so he could go home and wish the weirdness away, he relaxed a bit. The school had gotten new gym uniforms. On the front of each shirt was, of course a dog. Big surprise there. He joined the line of boys from his class entering the gym and watched as a few of the other boys began horsing around with each other. Everyone seemed to be just going along with this, so he had to as well....honestly, it seemed easier than having to go through history class again. He was still having trouble focusing after it. As he was beginning to expect, standing in the gym was a dog with a whistle around his neck. A bulldog. He looked beyond him and saw at least one dog for every human lined up. He barked a few times, and the dogs began to move. Each of them came to sit beside a human. A golden retriever barked happily and approached Jon. He looked at the tag around her neck. It said "Abby." "You with me, girl?" Jon asked, patting her on the head. "What do you think we are doing today?" The bulldog barked and gestured to a whiteboard behind him. It said, "Fetch. Dogs first, then humans." Suddenly, tennis balls shot out from behind the line of students and dogs. He and the other students watched, confused. When the rolling stopped, the dogs shot off, grabbed the balls in their mouths, and returned to their starting point. The bulldog pointed to the board again. The balls shot out again, and the students ran toward them. Jon grabbed the ball with his hands, and headed back. This was certainly fun...at least more fun than gym normally was. Except when he got back, he noticed he was getting a disapproving look from not just the bulldog, but his new partner Abby. _What had he done wrong this time?_
