Making Too Much Noise

"Jane? Are you okay?" Jon's former mother (now sister) asked, walking into the room. "What's with all the shouting?" "Sorry, Mo ... uh ... Maddie," Jane answered, almost saying *Mom*. Jon had never called her by her first name before. Fortunately, both names started with an "M". "Well, keep it down. Mikey's asleep." Maddie was about to leave, but something caught her eye. "Where did you get that from?" she asked, pointing at a stone in her sister's hand. "Uh, it's mine." "Dad had a stone that looked *just* like that. Remember?" "Yeah." Of course, she was talking about Jon's grandfather. "I miss him," Maddie said, solemnly. "Me too." Then there was a pause. "Well," Maddie said, breaking the silence. "Just keep the noise down, okay?" "Sure, sis." Maddie smiled, then left.
