"Wha ... Mom, what is it?" Lydia asked, groggily.
*Mom?* Mikey thought.
"Just come with me," Mikey's mom said. "Don't be frightened."
"By what?" Lydia asked.
"By him," she said, pointing at Mikey.
Lydia turned, but seemed confused. "There's no one there, Mom."
"You don't see someone right there?" Mikey's mom asked, growing concerned.
"No," Lydia said. "Mom, are you okay?"
