Shane wonders how Jon could fit in better

As the day progressed, Shane thought about how well Jon was fitting in. He didn't seem to be affecting business, which was the best it had ever been; but she could tell that many of her costumers were not comfortable with Jon. The more she thought about it, the more she felt that Jon had two problems that affected her customers. He was a guy in with gals. He was dressed in a *girlish* way. Shane felt that if she let Jon dress as a guy, some of her costumers would feel better, but most still wouldn't feel comfortable because he was a guy. Shane wondered if Jon could dress and pretend to be a girl while working for her. She looked at Jon and felt that it would be difficult. While he wasn't a *manly* man, he was too far into male puberty to easily pass as a girl. Shane walked over to where Jon was finishing sweeping up some of the hair on the floor. She whispered into his ear, "Jon, can I see you in the back?" "Yes, Miss Shane." Jon said, setting down the broom and following Shane into the back room. "Jon " Shane began at the same moment that Jon's mother made her wish for Jon to fit in at the beauty shop. At that moment, reality changed.
