(_Ziggu45 reanimated this branch, and I wanted to add to it as I liked the basic direction, but I was confused in this case because it seemed to keep mixing Molly's POV with Melony's POV, so this is my attempt to rewrite it from Melony's POV._)
She started down the stairs then paused, seeing everyone in the room below frozen, surrounded by a cloud. What was going on?
Her mommy, daddy, and Melony were all standing there like statues. _Is this a game? Can I play?_ She ran down the stairs and into the cloud herself, knocking into Melony.
Melony blinked, confused. _What had just happened?
"Melony, what are you doing out of bed?" Molly said, sternly.
Melony looked at her blankly, but unexpectedly said, "I wanted a drink of water."
"I'll get it," Mr. Stevens said, heading to the kitchen.
Molly nodded turned to her mother, and counting out several bills before handing them to Mrs Stevens. "Thank you for watching her."
"My pleasure, Mrs. Stevens," the Mary Stevens said.
Melony felt confused. Why was Mrs. Stevens calling Molly that? Was this some sort of game?
"I'd better get home," Mary Stevens said, and headed toward the door.
Peter Stevens reentered the room with the water and saw her looking very confused. “Melony, is something wrong?"
Melony took a gulp of the water. “Isn’t... that.... Mommy?” She said, unsure about who exactly just left the house...not realizing what she just said.
Molly chortled and took Melony by the hand, leading the larger black girl up to the bedroom. “Silly Melony, I’m Mommy!” The young girl turned around and patted Melony on the thigh. “You must be so tired.” She cooed, taking her adopted daughter by the hand and moving toward the bedroom.
I have a habit of making swaps and reality alterations a bit of a Shell Game, so the confusion in my version was intentional. I wanted it like the magic wasn’t quote sure who was supposed to be who. But I can see how 3rd Person Omniscient was probably not the best choice.
I did the same thing, made it hard to figure out what was happening, on the other branch and A51 retconned the next piece because it was pre editing.
