Someone's at the door

Thirty minutes later, Jon's mother was getting into her show, arguing along with some of the actions ("Oh, how could she do that," "How dare he!" or "Your husband's coming, Maryann, put your panties back on and get the pool boy out!"), and Jon was starting to get bored playing with blocks. Then, they were both jerked back to reality when the doorbell rang. "Oh, that must be the babysitter! Wait in your playpen, sweetie, I'll be back in a moment," Jon's mother said, standing up. Jon noticed her exquisite dress and fancy jewelry as she left him in his playpen to go answer the door.
