"Wait a minute," said Jon, "I what?"
"Your sex hormones were converted to their opposites, so you changed into a girl. I told you."
"That's what I thought you said," replied Jon. "Look, I wasn't the best student in biology class, but even I know that hormones only control how you grow. The only way having female hormones could make me anything like a girl is if I had female hormones as a kid, before I started growing up, and even then, I'd still have certain male parts."
"Did I say that the disease changed you into a girl?" asked the doctor.
"You **implied** it. Besides, the name of the disease sounds like it."
"The disease only makes you partly change," said the doctor. "As you've guessed, just changing your hormones would only change or grow a couple of things that can still change--you'd start to get breasts and lose your whiskers, but you wouldn't turn completely female. And it wouldn't happen overnight."
"So what changed me?" asked Jon.
"The cure."
"The **cure**?"
"Yes," replied the doctor. "It would be bad if you were a guy with big breasts, a soft face, and a higher voice. But if you're a girl, you're normal. So the cure for having female hormones is to turn you completely into a girl, where the female hormones would be natural, and do to yor body what's supposed to happen anyway. It's a really amazing piece of technology. In fact I don't really understand it myself. You just go through the machine and come out changed."
