The stone he put in its place looked almost exactly like Jon's stone, except that it wasn't. It was The Random Obvious Stone.
It worked just like the normal stone, except that after every wish is granted, some other random person within the range of the stone (who didn't hear the wish) would remember how things were before the wish was made.
