The Elf Wants to Help Jon

"What difference does it make whether Santa knows I'm here?" Jon asked the elf. "Doesn't he *like* kids?" "Keep your voice down," the elf whispered. "The Santa you *think* you know and the Santa that really exists are two completely different things." The elf sighed, then held out his hand. "Come with me. I can hide you somewhere." Suddenly, the ho ho hos sounded a lot closer. Like right outside the room, actually. "Come with me," the elf whispered a little louder. He wasn't joking around. He seemed to think that Jon was in peril. But why? What kind of reaction would Santa Claus have?
