Oh, I know

I know there's no easy way out. Lucas will seek one at her peril first, because SHE doesn't know that (I'll make her failure mostly harmless, but poignant). After she learns there is no easy way out she'll begin planning for the complicated way out. Whether or not she succeeds at saving Lilly in the end, she'll walk out of the experience quite changed - that is NOT to say she'll walk away from it once it's over (as, well, hubris and all). :)
