Not really how I see it

It's not so much like wishing the branch to be blue then red, as it is wishing it to be blue, then progressively turn more blue. The wish was to turn their base form, however barely, female. The supplemental wish doesn't directly change that wish, so much as it allows further changes. No direct contradiction.
