Purple Bolt of Electricity

When they got to the mall, Sarah luckily found Karyn and her "new" friend Jen very easily. "There they are," Sarah said, pointing at them. "That's not Jon. That's a girl," Zoe said. "But I do recognise his stupid friend Karyn." As they walked closer, an odd thing happened. A weird purple bolt of electricity formed between Zoe and Jen. They seemed stunned for a moment, then the electricity disappeared and Jen and Zoe continued like nothing had happened. "Zoe? Are you okay?" Sarah said, mostly in shock because of what just happened. "Huh? Why wouldn't I be okay?" "You didn't *see* that?" "See what?" Zoe didn't have time for this. She had her revenge to inflict. "Come on, Sarah. My sister is right over there." "Wait a minute. *Sister*?" "Yeah. My sister *Jen*. She's the one we're after. Remember?" Somehow, that purple electricity changed her memory so that she remembered Jon as Jen. Since the haze/smoke from the device and the electricity were both the same color, Sarah deduced that they were related. A sort of side-effect of the device? She wasn't sure, but the purple electricity definitely only occured when people affected by the device were in close proximity to each other. "I remember," Sarah said, then in her head *Except you said it was your **brother** before.* "Okay, then. Come on." They walked towards Karyn and Jen.
