What's Changed?

Karyn wiped the few remaining tears from her eyes and got up off the sidewalk. Fortunately, they seemed to still be alone. "So what now?" asked Karyn. "We're already late for school. I really don't need a lecture from Mrs. Harding today." She said with a small smile. Jon could tell she was trying to ignore what had just happened. "I really don't see any reason to bother with school today. Besides, like you said, we're already late." "So what do you want to do then? He...he said we had at least a day." Her smile faded and her voice quieted when she brought up the man that had stolen the stone. "I don't know. We could hang out at the mall I guess." Karyn smiled again. "Sure." Jon picked up the device the man had given him, but stopped before he stuffed it into his backpack. "Karyn...you might want to see this." "What is it? Oh." The screen in the middle of the device had changed it now read "Genotype: 99% Human Phenotype: Needs a Shave". "Huh? Needs a shave?" Jon asked. Karyn sighed. "Just great. It comes with sarcastic commentary." "But you don't look any different." "I know, but I think I may know what it's talking about. Let's just head to the mall. I can go to the bathroom there and..." Karyn blushed. "You know...examine myself?"
