The Second Period Bell Rings

Jon slid into his seat. The second period bell rang, and once again, everyone stopped for a moment. Jon frowned. It seemed even louder than before, if that was possible. He looked at the front of the room, where Miss Robertson was writing on the board. She dropped the piece of chalk and looked around as if she'd forgotten where she was. The volume level in the room soared again as everyone began talking, including Miss Robertson. The class was well into what seemed to be a social hour with Jon watching when an voice rang out from the doorway. "Everyone take your seats," it said with authority. He spun around to see who it belonged to.
