Kyla looked through her textbook, trying to find *something* that she understood, but it all just looked like gibberish. "Ms. Leeson, no textbooks allowed. Please put that away," the teacher suddenly said. *As if it would make a difference,* Kyla thought, as she put the book away. She concentrated hard on the math problem, but then eventually gave up and just put any answer down. She couldn't believe this. Math had *never* been this hard for her. What could cause her to blank out like this? When class was over, she shuffled out of the class and back to her locker. And that was when it happened. Some guys were fooling around in the hall with a football, tossing it back and forth (they were told not to do it, but they did it anyway). As they were tossing the football, it flew towards Kyla's row of lockers. She remembered the last time that happened. It struck her in the arm, causing it to hurt like hell. But *this* time, she saw it coming and actually *caught* it. She went out of her *way* and caught it - jumping into the air and catching it in her arms, like she was some sort of ... football player. It was such a weird feeling. She didn't even feel like herself. It was almost like she suddenly had the skills of a football player and she was instinctively using them. "Where'd you learn to catch like that?" one of the boys asked, walking towards her.
