Jonchelle spent the rest of the afternoon taking out Zoe’s old clothes, putting them in boxes marked for storage, and then hanging up her purchases in their place. The one thing that Jonchelle _did_ like about Zoe’s old room was that there was a floor-length mirror.
Jonchelle took her time modeling each outfit before she hung them up, checking that they fit her and how good she would look in them. As she was trying out one outfit, on a whim, she grabbed her phone and took a selfie. Before she knew it, she had dozens of selfies, each one of her in a different outfit.
Scrolling through them, Jonchelle smiled. _Some of these are good enough for Instagram._ She thought, so she opened up the app and realized that her profile still presented her old self, the one that she was ditching for a year.
_Blegh,_ she exclaimed, sticking out her tongue. _I looked so drab. No wonder girls didn’t date me. I mean, look at me now. I’m hot!_ She declared. Jonchelle chose the photo that she liked best and then uploaded it as her new profile picture and edited her profile name.
Scrolling through her news feed told her that other people were doing the same. Since she’d had more male friends than girls, a lot of her friends were becoming girls and posting similar photos. Flopping on to her bed, Jonchelle closed Facebook and brought up YouTube as she began searching for makeup tutorials. After all, she had to make sure that she looked good for school on Monday.
