Before Jon headed to the mall, he called Karyn and asked her to join him. "Jon, are you feeling okay?" she asked over the phone. "Why? Do I sound sick?" "You sound ... different." Jon shrugged. "I don't *feel* sick." "Maybe it's just a bad connection," she said. "Are you leaving for the mall right away?" "I was gonna leave right now." "Then I'll be a little late. I'm helping my mom with something." "If it's too much trouble, you don't have to ..." "Believe me, Jon. I want to spend time with you as soon as possible. I'll only be a few minutes late."
