**AN:** From interactive "Fanfiction Gender Change", chapter originally written by Yote ---- There was a *pop* of imploding air as the Hagrid-sized Harry shrank instantaneously into a humble chess piece, hanging in the air for a second before clattering off the bench and onto the floor. "Oh no!" Hermione moaned, scrambling onto the icy cold stone floor beneath the table. She couldn't see him anywhere. He must have rolled somewhere. "**Accio** Harry," she said desperately. Nothing happened. "**Accio** chess piece," she optioned. His tiny form popped out from between two flagstones and into her hand. Her sigh of relief steamed in the frosty air. With mixed feelings, she had to admit, as she turned him round in her mittened hand, that her spell had worked. He resembled his counterpart on the chess board perfectly - a small stone Queen piece, identical even down to the centuries of chips and cracks and wear from thousands of hands that had all but erased the original's facial features. And like all Wizard Chess pieces, it could move. It examined itself slowly, the miniature stone arms exploring up the carved body until they reached the eroded face with horror. A guilty weight filled her stomach. "Sorry, Harry. I'll get you back to normal right away! Just as soon as I figure out how." She set the Chess Piece That Lived on the table, far away from the other, more-mundane pieces, and flicked hurriedly through her transfiguration book for reversal charms.
