Tiffany waited until they had left. "Hey, Kyla. Can I speak to you for a minute? Alone?" She said looking over towards Jay. "But..." Kyla began but Jay interrupted her. "It's OK. I'll wait for you outside." And he left the two girls alone. "You like Jay, don't you? Romantically?" Kyla looked at her. "That's none of your business." "I just want to help," Tiffany said. "Have you considered talking to the new guidance counselor? She helped me with my problems...Maybe she can give you some advice..." "What problems?" "I wasn't concentrating on my studies...I mean...how am I going to get into a good college? And next week, I'll get here on time so I can play with all of you." Kyla looked at her, suspiciously. "Tiffany...why are you trying to be like us? You're not like us..." she said. "You used to make fun of people like me..." Tiffany's face fell. "I..." she stumbled, nervously. "I didn't mean to...I mean, it was those mean girls...I wanted to fit in..." Kyla suddenly felt less angry, but no less confused as Tiffany began to sniffle.
