After the light faded, they looked down and saw that apparently someone, or whatever force was involved, had indeed done something. Buffy was not pregnant, but she was still sitting down on the chair and holding the baby in her lap.
Which solved her problem... but now Buffy's baby was a person, who was now beside the pool, and could be affected by it....
