Loss of Concentration

"Mom, are you crazy or something?" Zoe said. "No. Now, be quiet. You don't want me to make a mistake, do you?" Linda said. She started to concentrate on pronouncing the Latin words very carefully. One wrong move, and she could change the meaning entirely. She was about halfway through when Mikey entered the hallway, and that was when things started to go wrong...not only with her pronunciation, but with the spell. The spell was like a math equation, balanced for three, not for four. The room lit up like the fourth of July, and that was when, for all four of them, everything went black.
