That really seems wildly out-of-character for Tim. From the beginning, he's pretty social and agreeable; he does resent people categorizing him by his change somewhat, and he's a bit snarky by nature, but he's hardly anything like the way you're painting him... (And while people learning something from their changes *is* a recurring motif in the story, it's not a hard-and-fast rule...)
