Hunting Season?

BOOM!!! I sprung awake beneath the oak tree, eyes wide. Was it still storming? I looked up at the sky. It was partly cloudy, but there was no rain. What was that loud boom, then? BOOM!!! The second time I heard it, I recognized the sound. It wasn't thunder, it was a gunshot. BOOM!!! Part of the oak tree I was beneath splintered off and caused me to stand up in a panic. Someone was shooting at me! Someone was *hunting* me.
