"Alright, Jim. I called you over here to show you *this*." Rick opened the door, revealing the interior of his closet.
"And?"
Rick picked up the metallic chalice that was sitting on the floor of his closet.
"Okay, it's a cup. So what?"
Rick was getting a little annoyed by his friend's lack of interest. "It's not just *any* cup. It's a magic chalice."
"Magic? Yeah, whatever."
Ignoring his friend's disbelief, Rick continued. "When you fill it with water, it'll glow and transport anyone who is touching it to another location. And wherever you go, it'll be as if you were already there. It's great if you need an alibi when you're a suspect of the police, bad if you have a girlfriend and wind up at a strip club."
"Is it just random?" Jim asked, mainly just humoring him. He still thought that Rick was just putting him on. "Or can you pick where you can go?"
"I'm not sure, actually."

"Yes," Rick said confidently. "Uh ... but I'm not sure what it is." Seeing that Jim didn't understand, he told him to turn the cup around.
On the back (or maybe it was the front?), Jim saw something inscribed into the metal of the cup. At the top, it was very noticeable (although in a language Jim didn't understand), but when it got towards the bottom, most of it was worn off, probably just from wear and tear over the centuries.
"It's Latin. I used an on-line translator to decipher what I could see. The rest is just too hard to make out. So ... you want to give it a try?" Rick asked.
"You're serious about this, aren't you?"
"Definitely."
Jim shrugged. He still wasn't totally convinced, but he figured that he could indulge his friend a *little* longer.
They walked into the bathroom and both held the cup under the sink faucet. Then Rick filled it halfway. It didn't matter how much was put into it. It only mattered if it was filled with water.
A second after Rick shut off the sink, the chalice began to *glow*, erasing any of Jim's doubts. Then, in an instant, they weren't in the bathroom anymore. Instead, they were ...
