“Screw you.”
“Screw _you._”
Fun fact! Karyn and Sarah had their morning classes across the hall. This meant they got to meet Jon together.
They both hated this so much and it was hilarious.
But it was also a very, very nice sight to look at . The two beauties sauntered through the emptier parts of campus, each as the perfect, glowy version of the other. There was a sort of elegant, synchronized flourish to their steps—likely from their new roles as the stone’s avatars, embodying whatever fantasies Jon happened to have.
Stupid magic.
“You think I like this?” Karyn spat out. She kept pace surprisingly well, despite Sarah’s heels. “No offense dude, but your life sucks.”
“Excuse me!?” Sarah said, genuinely incredulous. “My life is amazing. You probably just can’t, like, wrap your head around how great everything is!”
“Oh, I can wrap my head around the drama and sparkles several times over. It’s thinking like you that sets me off.” She took a deep breath. “You’re always plotting, but you’re bad at it. You’re obsessed with being top dog here, but it’s _just_ a high school. And you have all these friends, but all you do is think about how annoying they are. It’s exhausting!”
“_You’re_ exhausting!” If Sarah processed what Karyn said, she made no show of it. “You’re always, like, thinking and moving and worrying. It’s like you have ADHD or something!”
“—Yeah, no shit—”
“And your family! Why do they smile so much!? You’re mom—she _held_ me before I left, and said, like, ‘I love you’ or something. Like, who does that?”
A pause. Karyn stopped and looked at Sarah, and for the first time in her life, did so with genuine concern. “Do… Do you seriously not understand why mom would do that? Sarah, maybe you should talk to—”
“And you’re so _poor!_ And _gross!_ Who shares a bathroom with other people?”
“…Never mind.”
“First thing I do when I get the rock? Fix this—” Sarah shuddered as __Karyn__ waved to a few passing students. She shuddered back and grimaced. “Second? Wish you were, like, as far away as possible. I don’t want to see you, or your dumb smiley family, ever again!”
Karyn sighed. “You know that’s not how this works, right? Jon controls the stone, not us. And there’s no way he’ll let you…”
Her voice trailed off. Sarah was grinning.
“What?”
“Silly girl,” Sarah said. “I’m not the one who’s gonna take it from him. Karyn is.”
Karyn narrowed her eyes. “What the hell does that mean?”
“You followed me here. To mine and Biffy’s make out spot.” Sarah’s smile widened even further, and she leaned in close. “Biffy’s real good at taking care of me, ya know? Even if it means I’ll be late to class, or meeting my friends…”
On cue, Biff appeared down the hall. Everything shuddered, and __Sarah__ let out a dreamy smile… Until Karyn shook her head. She glared at the true Sarah. “Oh, I hate you for this. I really, really hate you for this.”
“Have fun, ‘Sarah!’ I know I would!”
“So what? You think you can just trick Jon while I’m stuck here!?”
“Maybe! Either that, or _you_ have Biffy beat him up for me. I mean, you’re _me,_ rite? And _I_ want the rock, and Biffy’s _real good_ at getting what I want.” She winked. “But what do I know? I’m just a bimbo…”
And Sarah skipped away.
And Karyn tried to go after her.
And her pretty little heels stayed right where they were.
_No, no, no, no…_
Reality shuddered once again, and Karyn tried her utmost to resist it… But __Sarah__ just blinked in confusion, forgetting whatever she was just so worried about.
But who even cares? She had her hunky boyfriend to play with.
