FROZEN: Defeated

I tried my best to reach the woman, but the more I walked, the slower I got. It was as if I was being drawn to the sphere. And after only twenty feet, I stopped and collapsed to the ground. I felt exhausted, like I had run a marathon. I was sweating and out of breath. I turned my head upwards and saw the woman on the ridge. The expression on her face said it all. There was no hope for me. She tried her best, but in the end, she failed. And with that, she turned and walked out of view. The sound was so loud now that my head felt like it was going to explode. What *was* this thing? And what was it doing to me?
