It's a Woman's World

"Don't *joke* about this!" Exclaimed Jon, her voice much higher than she would have liked. "I wasn't joking!" Said Karyn. "You wished for world peace and I think you got it. Just by getting rid of all of the men." "But..." Jon sputtered. "That's stupid! Women can be just as ruthless and power-hungry as we can." "Fair enough," conceded Karyn, not bothering to correct Jon for thinking of herself as being separate from women. "But when was the last time you heard of a woman dictator? Or a woman serial killer? Or a woman terrorist?" "I've heard of a few," Jon argued. "Maybe. But on the whole, there are *way* more men doing these things; probably like a hundred-to-one ratio. If we were *all* women, then there would probably not be enough of them to make it a major problem." "But how do people reproduce!" Jon demanded. "Men are kind of necessary for *that*, aren't we?" "There must be some kind of alternative system here," said Karyn. "To hell with that," Jon declared. "I don't want to be a girl; I'm wishing things back to normal!" "Hold on!" Said Karyn, snatching the rock out of her friend's hand. "Don't you at least want to look around a bit? Whether you wish now or later doesn't really make a difference, does it?" Jon looked unconvinced. "Come on," Karyn pleaded. "It's only for a little while. What harm does it do? One afternoon; I promise!" "Karyn..." "It'll be fun! Let's go exploring." Jon sighed. "Alright," she said. "Just one afternoon. Just let me figure out who I actually *am* now." With that she, grabbed her purse from where it was now sitting and extracted a glittery, feminine wallet. "Awful photo," she commented as she turned to her driver's license. "I guess some things are a constant across the universes," Karyn giggled. "According to this, my name is Jessica," Jon (or rather Jessica) read. "It suits you Jessica!" Said Karyn. "Please don't call me that." "Call you what, Jessica?" Jessica flushed. Karyn smiled; *Jessica was so cute when she was annoyed*, she thought. Then, once again, she reminded herself that she wasn't into girls. "Look, we need to blend-in here, Jessica; it just won't do if your parents hear me calling you 'Jon.' Jon has never existed here, remember; in fact, as far as anyone is concerned, it's probably not even a real name!" "I guess you're right," Jessica conceded. "Okay, let's go exploring!" "Excellent idea! What shall we check-out first?"
