Jon walked down the hall, thinking that getting away from Zoe would return him to normal, and he began to become relieved when that strange feeling came over him again. His Goth clothes and appearance disappeared. But, unfortunately, he wasn't returning to normal. Instead, he became *shorter* and his clothes matched the outfits typical to ten-year olds.
"Mikey," Jon said aloud, shocked at his own voice, which sounded just like a little boy's. Of course, it didn't shock him *too* much. It *was* his voice, only from nearly six years earlier, back before he was a teenager.
Jon's little brother (although *now* they really weren't that far off in age) opened his bedroom door. "Hi, Jon," he said happily. "I was reading some comics. You wanna read'em with me?"
At first Jon really didn't want to, but instinctively said yes anyway. He didn't want to admit it, but it was that way with Zoe too. When he became the Goth version of himself, he felt a certain bond with his sister. He felt like he understood her. Now he was feeling that way about Mikey. Suddenly, Jon wanted to do what Mikey was doing. It seemed that he was not only *physically* becoming the ideal version of himself, but also *mentally*.
Mikey climbed up onto his bed and then Jon did too. Now that Jon was lighter, the bed was strong enough to hold both of them. They laid there reading Mikey's comics for the better part of a half an hour, until their mom knocked on the door, informing them that dinner would be ready soon and that they should wash up before coming downstairs.
Both Jon and Mikey whined. They wanted to read more comics. But they did as their mom asked and left the bedroom to go wash their hands.
