Thoughtless Wish

"Karyn?" Jon asked over the phone. "Who is this? How did you get my number?" "It's me. Jon." He was starting to get a bad feeling about this. "Jon who? Listen, I don't know who gave you my number, but don't call here again." Then she made a moaning sound. "Who's there with you?" Jon asked, with a sense of urgency. "Ugh," Karyn replied. "If you *must* know. It's Steve Farber." "What ..." But she didn't give him a chance to finish. She immediately hung up her phone. From the sounds he heard over the phone, Jon visualized that womanizer jerk Steve Farber having sex with Karyn. That should have been *him* having sex with Karyn, not a dirtbag like Steve. Anger and jealousy arose within him, causing him to make an accidental wish, one that unfortunately could be interpretted many different ways. "I wish that was *me*," he said. His eyes went wide, realizing what he had just done. The stone glowed and his vague wish was granted.
