Changed Reality

As Jon sat on his bed, he thought about what his grandfather said in his letter. *Changes made will be as if it has always been so, apart from those within earshot of the wish or out of the range of influence of the stone.* Jon assumed that his grandfather had the stone in his possession for a fair amount of time, long enough to make several wishes. But what if one of those wishes changed Jon's reality. Specifically, his life. Maybe *this* reality wasn't the true reality, the *real* reality. If he didn't hear the wish, he wouldn't notice anything was different. It made Jon's head spin, thinking about all the wishes his grandfather could have made to change his life, if he had at all. Suddenly, he felt violated, as if someone were controlling his life. But, he supposed, that's how other people might feel about *him* if he ever used the stone in the same way. But still ... Jon shook away his fearful speculation. He needed to know for sure. "I wish to know if my grandfather made any wishes that changed my life." The stone glowed and Jon got his answer. His grandfather made *one* wish that changed Jon's life. Jon was almost too afraid to know what it was, but in the end, he made a wish to know. After the stone glowed for a second time, Jon's eyes went wide with shock. His grandfather's wish was: I wish ...
