A Change of Scenery

"I wish that I would meet a mermaid," he finally wished. The stone glowed brightly, which caused Jon to close his eyes. With the blinding light there also came a feeling of disorientation. This was hardly surprising, because when he opened his eyes he saw that he was no longer in his bedroom. In fact, he wasn't even *inside* at all. He was standing on a beach with the vast ocean in front of him. He looked around his little area of the beach, but couldn't find any sort of landmark that would give him a clue as to where in the world he was. There was sand, water, ... but no mermaid! He had specifically wished to meet a mermaid. It took him a while, but he figured that he had indeed wished to meet a mermaid, but he didn't say where or when. That certainly explained why there wasn't a mermaid right in front of him and why he wasn't in his bedroom anymore. He decided to walk along the beach, hoping that it wouldn't be long before he met his fishy female.
