Playing hooky with the magic lamp

Work was suddenly an afterthought while Joanna obsessed with the object she forced herself to keep hidden in her purse. What the hell was it, anyway? Joanna had no idea, but she could sure imagine some fantastic possibilities. Was it a genie's lamp? Or maybe it contained something magical? Despite Joanna's usually rational sensibilities, she seemed unable to restrain her own eager thoughts. Distracted and anxious to discover her purchase's secrets, she soon found herself at home. She hastily entered the door and scrambled to lock it behind her. Now secure, she was able to at last turn her full attention to the lamp.
