In the next room over, Jon's sister Zoe and her best friend and fellow Goth girl Athena were sitting on her bed, hanging out. Athena wanted to show Zoe the new artifact she recently bought at the Occult Stop, but the moment she started to use it at Zoe's house, it was acting very strangely. "It didn't do that when I tried it earlier," Athena said, looking down at the glowing crystal ball in her hands. It was no larger than a baseball. "Maybe you weren't using it right," Zoe suggested. "Zoe, I'm probably the biggest expert on the occult in town. I think I know what I'm doing." "Well, what about Scarlett? The owner of the shop? She's probably more of an expert than you." "Okay, the _second_ biggest expert. This isn't supposed to be glowing like this. I mean, I guess if it did do something like that, it would mean that there's not just another magical artifact nearby, but a powerful one too. But what's the chance of _that_?"
