A Change of Friends: Pete's Confused

Jon clutched the stone, about to make a wish. Well, at least, he would have, if he was holding it. His eyes grew wide, realizing that Pete must have still had the wishing stone. He looked around, but didn't see Pete *or* Karyn anywhere. Where did they go? ------ Pete walked into the school with Karyn. He was still confused as to why she was acting so weird around him, calling him things like "stud" or "hot stuff". She never talked like that before. As they walked through the hall, he became even more confused. He noticed that there was a small stone in his hand. Where had it come from? He didn't remember picking it up. Why did he feel like he was forgetting something important?
