"Please forgive my requirement for clarification, but how does one treat a drone?" J-289 asked. K-25 tilted her head. "Um, well, y'know " She waved a hand around helplessly. "Give me orders. Remind me to recharge. Don't be so polite when you speak to me. That kind of thing." J-289 sorted out this information. "In summary, you wish to be treated like a family member?" K-25 blinked before smothering a snort of laughter. "Not quite. Let me clarify. Treat me like a tool or an extension of yourself. If you need another pair of hands to do something, feel free to use me." With a slightly clearer picture of what the girl desired, J-289 nodded. "Understood." K-25 let out a sigh. "Thank you." "You're welcome." Turning back to the closet, J-289 sifted through the row of clothing. Shortly after, it brought it out a sufficiently loose garment to inspect. "Uh," said K-25 from over the drone's shoulder. "Maybe not that." "Is this not suitable?" Shaking her head, K-25 plucked the silky article from J-289's hand. "It's a slip. It's meant to be underwear." "Acknowledged," J-289 replied, reaching back into the closet. Its second selection also met with disapproval. "Nope. Not your style." J-289 inspected the old-fashioned flower-print dress. "Please, clarify. Style?" "How do I put this?" K-25's face reddened as she shrugged. "You're sexy. Gorgeous, even! And it'd be a waste to cover it up with that frumpy thing. I'd bet even Mrs. Gibson hasn't worn that in years." "Style does not concern me," J-289 responded. K-25 could swear she heard just a hint of primness in its tone. "Proper heat dispersal is my first priority." "Look, I get it. But you also want to keep your owners comfortable around you, and part of that is not wearing awful styles. How about this? I know of a few things in Zoe's closet that she hasn't worn in a while. I think they'd fit you a lot more than anything in here." "Will this not upset my owner?" J-289 asked cautiously. "Probably. But I still owe her back for earlier, and this seems a good way to get her back. Besides, you're only following Mrs. Gibson's orders to find 'suitable' coverings, and none of this stuff is suitable." J-289 processed this for a split second before coming to a decision. "Very well." K-25 took a step towards the door before pausing. "Um, could you order me to do it? Y'know, like a drone?" Still a bit puzzled about this human's behavior, J-289 acquiesced. "K-25, locate and procure suitable coverings." "Yes, mistress," K-25 intoned, barely hiding a smile. "Correction: a drone answers in the affirmative or negative," J-289 stated. This time, the girl visibly shivered in delight. "Affirmative, mistress." Watching its designated girlfriend exit the room, J-289 allowed itself a bit of reflection. Humans were strange. Deep inside, the mind of Jon had to agree.
