The problem with Pronouns

John watched his sisters clothes change into a black skirt and black tights with a white blouse. Then he felt something strange and looked at his own body. His clothes had changed as well. But he was wearing the same outfit as his sister! Down to the tights. What was happening?! He felt his mind fill with proper thoughts as he remembered his wish. That "she" would be more respectful.
