Closing up the Gate

Carol walked up to the portal. Reaching into her pocket, she retrieved a small Camera like device. With a few button taps it extended out poles like a larger cam-corner on a stand. She calibrated it briefly and aimed it at the portal. "What's that going to do?" John asked. "Close it up. Sad to say, I don't really have the ability to stop those gates naturally. But this baby here should remedy that." She pressed a red button overtop it and a twirling light emitted out of it into the portal. At first it expanded, gorging and swelling size. But after the light faded it began to suck itself inwards, soon ceasing to be as normality returned to the night.
