He had used special magical code libraries of a mysterious closed source to craft an app which when his users used it would morph anyone they took a selfie with into a copy of themselves.
The effect wouldn't be instant but it would set in quickly leaving the person a clone in mind and body and even clothes, within a couple of minutes.
