As Dutch, I'm not insulted, I no problem with the modern German , But be aware that we have over 50 laguages in Europe.Dutch and German are called germanic languages (English is also part of it).In Holland we have 3 languages and all sort of dialects. I'm aware it's very difficult for non European to know the differences, but Amsterdam (red light district in the story) is in Holland( officialy the Netherlands) and therefore we speak Dutch ( or she should be be German working girl in Holland:). A lot of people make the mistake Deutsch( German)= Dutch.
