"I wish that Jon can never be permanently transformed into CJ." Her mom said, and Cee-Jay sighed with relief. That should work. "Of course, you do remember that you will only become Jon if both Karyn and I agree. "Yes, mother, I remember." "Good. Now, since I did a favor for you, maybe you could do something for me." Cee-Jay wrinkled her nose, "Like what?" "Well, like maybe taking up ballet." "Ballet?" Cee-Jay said in a squeaky voice. This is exactly what she feared. Now, Cee-Jay knew her mom was right, she did have to do something for her; on the other hand, ballet was not very appealing to Cee-Jay. "Why ballet?" "What little girl doesn't want to be a ballerina?" Cee-Jay knew that wasn't true; Karyn never wanted to be in ballet. This was another one of her mom's 'perfect girl' fantasies. But what if . . . "How about softball instead? Or soccer?" "Softball is too much like baseball, which terribly bores little girls. Soccer is too rough for a girl like CJ." Cee-Jay slouched in defeat. "All right. I'll take ballet class." Her mother beamed, "Excellent. We'll go shopping as soon as we're done eating." What a revolting development, Cee-Jay thought.
