Jon (now calling himself Karyn) didn't understand his mom's reaction. As far as *he* knew, his mom had always supported him when he wanted to be more like his best friend Karyn. She was even okay with him wearing the same clothes as Karyn, even if he was labeled as a crossdresser. But now, it was as if she was a totally different person.
