"Jen, what's the matter? You don't look too good," her mom said. "Mom, I don't think I can get used to this." "Used to what?" "You being a tomboy." "Jen, what are you talking about? I've been like this all my life. You've never known me any other way." 'Actually, that's not true,' Jen thought to herself. Her mom came to the table and sat down. She reached over and put her hands over Jen's hands. "This is the way we are, okay? Nothing can change that. And there's nothing wrong with it. You remember that. Not all girls have to be girly. You know, I wish more girls were like us." When touching Jen's hands, she must have been touching part of the stone, because the stone granted her wish. "But, that'll probably never happen." Except, it did. All the girls in their neighborhood (not the town) had changed into tomboys, including one girl many people at school knew: Sarah McMillan.
