Jon calls home

Jon went out front and called his mother. "Mom, it is me." Jon said, using his normal voice in a near whisper. "Miss Shane wants me to stay after work for a bit, can I?" "Is your homework done?" "Yes Mother." "Will you be home for dinner?" "I don't think so, Mom. I'll grab a bite to eat before coming home. After all I do have a job now." "Okay Honey. Don't stay out too late." "Thanks Mom. Bye." Hanging up the phone, Jon went to Shane and quietly said, "Miss Shane, my mother said I could stay late tonight." "Good. Please use your phone voice while working here, okay?" "Yes Miss Shane." Jon said, his voice sounding just like a teenage girl his age. Shane noticed that when Jon used his *phone voice*, that he fit in better. '*He still has a long ways to go.*' She concluded. Finally, the last appointment was completed and Jon finished cleaning up as was his job. "Jon," Shane said from the back room, "can you come back here?" "Yes Miss Shane." Jon said, still with his *girlie* voice. He headed into the back room.
