The Workmen: 4AM comes around again

They kept Jon under detention for the rest of the day, and when the wee hours started coming around, Jon was, under guard, escorted by two of the workmen to a van. They seemed about as conversational as ever, and Rebecca hadn't explained why they had robot-like people working for them. But the sooner he got out of this place, the better. He noticed several other vans gearing up for work, but he wasn't allowed to see who or what was in them.
