A woman...probably Jon's mother, entered the room. She saw the motionless form in the bed and the mess in the room, and the magazine. "You aren't fooling anyone pretending to be asleep," she said, pulling the magazine off his face.
He expected her to scream at seeing him, but she didn't. "What are you doing up at this hour? You have school in the morning. And for...this?"
