Saved By The Bell

"Uh, I think this burger needs some ketchup," Jon said, standing up from the table. "Hey, how did you get a burger?" Zoe asked, realizing for the first time that her brother's dinner was different. Then she realized that he must have used the salt on his food and changed it. That meant he *knew* about it. "Don't move, Jon," she said, holding the salt shaker, ready to sprinkle some on him. Jon froze in place. His deception wasn't working and now the situation had turned worse. "Just be careful with that. The effects can't be reversed." "Who said I wanted them to?" she asked. Then she smiled. "I always wanted a Goth brother." She looked like she was about to shake the salt. "Wait!" Jon pleaded. At that moment, the doorbell rang. Jon felt a wave of relief. *Saved by the bell,* he thought. But then he became worried. Whoever it was that was at the door was in danger of becoming Zoe's next victim. But then again, it also gave Jon the time he needed to go grab the stone and try to fix all of this.
