"Is she *ever* gonna come in?" Larry asked. "She said she'd be late, but not *this* late."
Carrie looked up. She was writing down some lab results. "Just give her a little more time. She said she was bringing in something that was worth the wait."
"Yeah, from her *house*," he said. "What could it possibly be? A new toaster?"
"Don't be so smart."
They heard a door open and close. And saw a figure walking around in Samantha's office.
Carrie adjusted her glasses. "That's probably her now."
The person walked out of the office and into the main lab.
Both Larry and Carrie were shocked. It *was* Samantha Duncan, but she was dressed like a geek: she had a white blouse and long black skirt on, with black mary jane shoes. Her hair looked unkempt and she had no make-up on.
At first, they thought that she had arranged this so that she could play a practical joke on them. But Samantha wasn't like that. She wasn't geeky like they were, but she understood them and never made fun. Even her own *son* was a geek.
So, that begged the question: What was going on?
She held up a strange-looking gun. Larry took it and looked at it.
"What is it?" asked Larry.
"As far as I can tell, it's a personality manipulator device."
"How did you come to *that* conclusion?" Carrie asked.
"I accidentally fired it at myself." She looked down at herself, then back up at Carrie. "Well, you can see what happened to me."
"It turned you into a *geek*? That's impossible," Carrie said.
"Well, it happened."
"What do you want us to do with it?" Larry asked.
"I want you to tell me how it works."
