The Ground and The Sky

Who was this guy? Was *he* the reason that Jon was in this ridiculous situation? Being stuck in the middle of nowhere in only his underwear? The farmer kept talking about a danger. But other than the possibility of dying of thirst or hunger, Jon didn't see any danger that could happen to him. After a few minutes, the swirling dust stopped. Jon looked up at the sky. Not even *one* cloud, but a perfect blue. It must have been midday. He scanned the sky, looking for how high the sun was. But it wasn't there. "What the hell?" The *sun* wasn't there, yet there was sunlight lighting everything up as if it were. Jon looked back down at the ground, confirming to himself that it really *was* daytime. He got another shock. It was the road. It wasn't gravel anymore. Now it was paved, with a bright yellow-painted dashed line right down the middle. Then, all of a sudden, there was a loud boom, somewhere off in the distance. Jon didn't understand any of this.
