They headed downstairs. Mikey seemed to have forgotten about his room and seemed focused on whatever Stacy had said about him being the homework helper. They were nearly at the front door, with Jon trying to figure out what to try next, when his Dad called from the kitchen. "Mikey, can you give me a hand in here?" "Sure," Mikey said. "Jon...I'll be back in a few minutes," he promised. This left Stacy and Linda to continue toward the door toward the house next door. Jon followed them, hoping Stacy's parents could stop this.
