"Mommy, can you make those pancakes now? I'm hungry," Linda called. "I ... uh ... I think I have the wrong house," the strange girl said. "Well, I hope you find the right one," Mikey said, before closing the door. "Strange girl," he said. He returned to the kitchen and the pancake batter. Linda sat in the living room, watching cartoons. Unseen by Mikey, who was in the kitchen humming and working on the pancakes, Linda was losing years, the weight she'd gained after having Mikey vanishing and her waist narrowing. Mikey, meanwhile, was in the kitchen. He felt confused for a moment. As if he'd never made pancakes before. Had it been so long he'd forgotten. He reached for the package to reread the instructions.
